Librarian Duty #9
Librarian Duty #9
Today I turned up on time to my Library Duty and did the books myself until Brook arrived. I showed a junior where a particular series of books were. We sat at the issuing desk and issued and renewed a few books, time flied and it was already time to pack up and tell everyone the library was closed. The care qualities I showed then were; communication (talking with the junior), connecting (which books Brook and I were gonna do) and being self aware (turning up on time).

Peer mediation #10
Peer mediation #10 8/11/2016
This peer mediation was with different people because the year eights were in wellington for the week. I did my peer mediation with Charlotte G and Hailey. We walked around the school looking for problems and discussing what leadership positions we wanted to do for next year when we came across three boys that asked if we were the pals. We weren't but they still wanted to play a game (running races) we said "three, two, one GO!" And they took off down the running race tracks. We looked for any more problems around the school. We did this until our duty ended we hung up our vests and went to play at the playground.

Librarian duty #8 2/11/2016
Brook and I went to the library, it was crowded! Since book week (literacy week) is on, everyone wanted to go to the library! There was also a space theme and it was really cool! We put away all the books that had been taken out and returned and then sat at the desk and gave out worksheets to everyone. The juniors wanted to do the scavenger hunt, but we had none left so they did a different one. Time flew and it was already time for the library to be packed up. The CARE values I showed today were Community and Respect.

Peer Mediation #9
Peer mediation Duty #9 28/10/2016
Today I did my duty with Sophie and Grace, we wandered around the junior area (because that's where all the problems were) and we had little buddies following behind in our footsteps so those two got a bit carried away. But anyway We were searching for problems and I little boy came up to me with his friends and wanted to go to the sick bay because he'd hurt his knee and it was red, so I told him he could take two friends with him to the sick bay because we wouldn't want ten people storming into the office for just one little cut. It was 12:00pm at this time as we walked passed our classroom. Immediately Grace and Sophie took off their vests and said they needed to do something important, but I said we should do our duty. They walked off anyway so I had to do it alone for the next ten minutes. I looked for someone else to do peer mediator duty with me while I looked around but I couldn't find anyone so I felt a bit alone. I came across one other minor problem that's not worth talking about, then I finished up my duty. I went to go play Capture the Flag!
I showed the care values Community, Active thinking, and Excellence.

Librarian Duty #7
Librarian Duty #7 26/10/2016
After I did long distance on the field, I went to the library to do my duty. I got there and Brooke was already there putting books away so I helped her out. Mrs. Ward added more to the pile so we had more to do, we didn't mind. After I placed the books in their rightful order I checked on how everyone was going as I started reading my own book. Time flied as it was already time to pack up and leave. I told everyone the library was closed and I as on my way!
The C.A.R.E values I showed today were collaborate,(helping Brooke with the books) connecting, (we connected to see who would do which books) questioning, (I asked Mrs. Ward where a book should go) and Communication (because we talked).

Peer mediator Duty #8
Peer mediator duty #8
Sophie and I walked around the school and found no major problems that lunchtime but we still did our duty for the full twenty minutes.
The c.a.r.e values/qualities we showed were communication - for the minor problems, questioning (minor problems) and connecting to those people.

I did peer mediator duty today with Sophie, there was only one problem which was small, (the people just needed to stay away from each other) so yeah.
We walked around for the whole time then handed the peer mediation stuff to the next people. The CARE qualities we showed were community, active thinking, and respect because we connected to the people that had the problem, communicated with them to find the problem and questioned what happened!

Peer mediator duty #6
Peer mediator duty #6 20/9/2016
Today was more eventful than some. I filled in for someone who had forgotten to do their duty with Katie, so I helped out! Before we'd started, we had bumped into some little juniors and one of them was bleeding so Katie took them to the sick bay. Since most incidents happen in the junior area, we went there to see if there were some problems to deal with.We were right. We dealt with at least two arguments over equipment and then ran out of time so we finished up. Someone had thrown the green vests all over the floor so I picked them up and then we went to play. The learner qualities I showed were Active thinking, because we questioned what had happened. Community, we collaborated on our work (peer mediation). Excellence because we communicated well.

Peer Mediator Duty #5
Peer mediator Duty #5
Today Katie helped me because the others weren't here but we had at least a dozen problems to deal with! The first one was in the juniors on the netball court, there was a girl crying because some other little kids grabbed her skipping rope when she put it on the ground. So we walked over there and asked "What's wrong?" and we got all the information! They agreed to share the skipping rope and play "Slither and jump rope".
The next problem was outside rooms 14 and 15. A boy was crying because he had no one to play with. Luckily, another little boy came and asked if that boy wanted to play with them. He said "okay", problem solved!
The next one was on the courts, someone feel over and some people took him to the sickbay which was fine. Another incident happened and another person feel over and got taken there too.

Peer Mediator Duty #4
Peer Mediator Duty #4
Today was an eventful day at lunchtime on duty. First we did a quick round of the school looking for problems, none. When we got back and were about to finish up, someone was sitting on the senior classroom steps with tears rolling down her cheeks, she looked lonely. Sophie and I, went up and asked "What is wrong?" Then she told us...
Her friends said they wanted to talk together by themselves, so she let them. They went at least five meters away and started whispering in each others ears. The girl who was crying thought they were talking about her, so she scooted over there and said "are you finished?" they said "NO!" then they kept on talking. Finally one girl said "My mum doesn't want me to hang out with you anymore." The girl crying didn't like what she said so she said "Your mum is mean!" the girls whispering got insulted by that and ran away.
Sophie and I thought that this wasn't good, so we followed the girl clearing up her tears, to the playground where they were. We slowly sorted it out getting both stories from each of them then decided that they might not want to play with each other again.
The C.A.R.E values I showed were Respect, community and Active thinking because I connected and communicated with them and questioned what happened. :D

Librarian Duty #6
Librarian Duty #6 27/7/2016
Today at the library, Brook, yet again, didn't show up, she came later and did the rest of the books for me while I finished up the huge pile of books I was doing. I found another book that my sister liked to read so I issued it for her on my account and took it home (she read the whole chapter book in one hour!)I showed the C.A.R.E values of Excellence when communicating at school with my sister in the Library respectfully. I also Empathised with her about what other books she'd like.
Another lovely day in the library :D

Librarian duty #5
Librarian Duty #5 30/6/2016
Today the library was closed due to... I have no idea! I am sad that I can't do it because being a librarian is my favourite thing to do at school! So anyway I couldn't do my duty but I still show leadership every lunchtime! What I did was I played with Hailey and we found a soccer ball sitting in the middle of the senior court area behind rooms 11,10 and 9. It was just sitting there and no one was collecting it so we ran up to it, named it Sporty, and passed the ball to each other. Catching and throwing, passing and rolling, bouncing it off walls, playing games with it, playing netball and basketball with it... everything you could possibly do with a ball!
We didn't even realise we did it for the whole lunchtime because we were having so much fun! We let a few join in and made a great fun game! Then near the end of lunchtime we pretended it was a dog for fun and took it around the school slowly kicking it then pretending it had a lead on and pulled it around! We had the best fun we could have with a ball (did I already sat that?)! Anyway the leadership qualities we showed were comunication because we were talking and finding out what we could do with the ball, connecting a well because we connected in the game? Finally we were being self aware! I think? Anyway that's all for now bye!

Peer mediator Duty #3
Peer mediator Duty #3! 24/6/2016
I turned up on my peer mediator duty on time (self aware learner quality)! Natasha said she swapped her duty with Joseph.B which mean't she was with Sophie and I. The annoying thing was the WHOLE TIME we walked around the school looking for problems, Sophie and Natasha sang "Somewhere over the Rainbow" which was incredibly annoying! So it was only me looking for the problems. And when we walked past their friends they joined into their game and played for a little bit and gave them all pozi's (which I guess is what we have to do).
Our duty ended quickly and it was already the second half of lunch, so we went back to the class and since I had a few pozi's left I left them for the next people doing the duty (they didn't do it). Natasha and Sophie actually threw their vests on the ground which wasn't respecting the classroom, so I picked up the vests and put them on the hooks. Them I went and played with my friends on the playground!
Librarian duty #4
Librarian Duty #4!
This time when going to the library as a librarian I had to return and get out new books. A few books I chose for myself were by the author Jacqueline Wilson, L. Pichon and Rachel Renee Russel. I really enjoy their kinds of writing skills, that why I got those particular books. My sister likes these authors to and she never has time to go to the library so I got some books out for her as well (she thanked me when we got home)! We connect and communicate at home and read to each other (learner quality).
Today at the library I put away books by myself (there were more than usual) because Brook forgot to come, so Mrs Ward tried to track her down out in the playground and found her before I finished putting the books away, which mean't she had to put the rest of the books away herself. We issued some books and let people know it was their turn on the computer. After a while Mrs Ward said that she'd like to know if we blog about doing librarian duty, so we went on the online zone (on the library computer) and showed her our blogs, mine isn't there because I was new to the school this term so ya! We told everyone it was time to pack up after that and all was well! :)

Peer mediator duty ( can do ) #2
Peer mediator duty #2 9/6/2016
Today was quite action packed! ( well, since nothing else has ever happened ). Me, Sophie and Joesph are just walking around then we see a kauri student ( year 5 or 6 ) and he's crying. We walk over and question ( learner quality ) what happened. No argument or dis-agreement, just a simple slip over on the concrete kinda thing. So we got a teacher and he got some friends to take him to the office... The next thing was it had been a while since the slip-over and someone was half crying half standing still doing nothing. So we asked what was wrong... Finally! I dis-agreement! Well not really, it's not a good thing, but at least we can do something! Suddenly right next to Sophie, a boy slips over and starts crying. Sophie takes care of that with another teacher while we sort out the other problem. We have the ipad with us so we fill in what happened. Apparently two boys ( one was him ) were playing a game of something like basketball when the boy we are talking to got a few scores the other boy said they didn't count. ( learner quality here was communication to Dean and his friend ) That caused the argument! Then the boy we were talking to ( Dean ) pointed to a boy over, across the courts. He said that was the boy, so the other boy came over and they started shouting at each other so I stopped them and said " Maybe you two should play a different game or not play with each other this lunchtime. " They agreed and played something else! ( we were all resilient because everyone was running around and playing crazy games at lunchtime by the way that's a learner quality :).
Library duty #3 ( can do )
Librarian duty blog post ( can do ) 8/6/2016
Today, another Wednesday, Librarian duty! At lunchtime
I walk to the school library with Brook. We get there and Mrs. Ward isn't there, so we start putting away some books. I find two books that my sister, at home, likes to read! So I grab them and issue them for her on my account! We like communicating at home about these particular books because they are her favourite types!
Everyone came in and started reading their favourite books and playing on the computer. Some boys were fighting over next to the computers about who's going to go first. I went over and tried sorting it out. I was being careful not to interfere to much or i'll end up fighting; I questioned ( learner quality ) about who asked the librarians ( me and Brook ) first. A boy said it was him, so he got to go on first then the other boy went on. I started reading one of the books I got for my little sister. They were actually very interesting and fun to read, I almost read the whole book! When it was time to pack up I communicated - learner quality ( told ) everyone it was time to pack up, everyone listened, the other boy on the computer almost sweared because he wanted to keep doing what he was doing but we told him he had to go outside and play. Another day, being a librarian! - my favourite can do job!

Library duty #2 ( can do )
Library duty #2 1/6/2016
Today, Brook and I got to the library on Wednesday, lunchtime. I asked Mrs. Ward if we had to put away the books ( here I showed the learner quality for " Questioning " ) she said yes. So we put away all books and took our posts at the front desk of the library. We had a few small problems with the computer like when we had to issue a particular book that couldn't be issued. At the end of lunch e had to tell everyone it was pack up time and that the library was closed. Some boys had to pick up all the Lego they had spilt, so I helped them by picking it up with them. ( I used another learner quality here, collaborating ) and at the end I said goodbye to Mrs. Ward. It was already the end of my post but Tatiana told me to go and talk to some of her other friends, so we did. We went inside a classroom and said Hi. But as soon as we did, the bell rang. So we had to go, I held the door open for everyone as they walked out. ( here I showed the learner quality of being nice! ) ( nah just kidding! That's not a learner quality :P ) ... ( but it should be! )
;P :) ;P

Librarian blog post #1 ( can do )
Librarian blog post 25/5/2016
Today was my first day for doing my job as a librarian. Mrs Ward let me try out for today at lunch and so I came with Brook and we helped put away books and I learn't which coloured books go where and where everything is so i quite enjoyed my time there! The library is a lovely place to go when you want to read about what you like, in silence ( or whispering ) and you can finish off SML and homework. I sat at the desk where Mrs ward sits, with Brook and we would read our books until someone wanted a book issued! Up to 4 people came to the desk, wanting a book out and at the end of lunchtime I went and told everyone it was time to pack up their games and all the stuff they were doing. I got a cool badge as well ( the librarian badge ) and so now I am a librarian and i really am enjoying it! One of the leadership qualities i used was collaboration when Brook and I worked as a team to get one job done after the next.
Peer mediator duty ( can do ) #1
Peer mediator duty. #1 26/5/2016
Today no one was with me accept Hayley who was just helping but not actually on duty. Because no one who was supposed to be on, came. I showed self awareness here, because I showed up on time! Unlike the others who were supposed to be on with me. When walking around school having a good eye out for people in need ( and Milan because she had forgotten she was on with me ), you notice that more people need help than you think they do and that there are arguments going on everywhere! I also couldn't find the ipad to record all details of your duty if something happened. It was no where to be seen! I went around the senior playground, on the field ( where the most trouble was ) and around in the junior area. I went around the backs of some classrooms to make sure no one was playing around there. When I got back from peer mediator duty I hung my green vest up then realized someone had made a big mess of all the vests because they were all over the floor really, so I picked all of them up and put them on their right full hooks. Then what I found under the last green vest was.. The ipad! I was happy it didn't get lost, but sad because I wondered why they would put it there.
