My term 2 book review

My term 2 book review                  24/7/2017

The book I will be reviewing is called, The Maze Runner by James Dashner. I really enjoyed reading this book because i'm all about action, adventure, excitement, unexpected twists in between the lines, I really love that kind of stuff and this book had it all. The genre of this book is Science Fiction and I love those genres so this book was for me. A little about the book is that there are around 50 people and they all are put in a maze with no clue where they are or how they got there, all they can remember... is their name. 

Overall I'd say this book was one of the best I have EVER read so I think whoever is reading this will enjoy it too.   :)

Basketball year 7/8 team VS teachers!      7/7/17

Today the teachers versed the students in a game of basketball, we lost by quite a lot but we had a good time playing anyway. The Monday team (us) went first in battling against them and we didn't do very well, I think we got 1 or 2 points but overall we had a good time. Next was the Friday team, they're a bit better but they still got around the same points as us, maybe 3 or 4. The teachers on the other hand got around maybe 1,000,000?? That sounds about right. Anyway, no one cheered us on accept ourselves because mot of the classes said "Boo!" when we got a point ad "Yahoo!!!" when the teachers got one, so yeah.

The care values we all showed were community (connecting), active thinking, respect and Excellence.

Technology #1

On Thursday (Yesterday) the 7/8 group traveled by bus to Lincoln Primary  like we do every Thursday.

We all hop off the bus and split off into our won groups; No one who likes me is in my group so it's quite unsettling in my group for me. But anyway, we're in Science this time and we learn't about Atoms the first week, then we learn't about rockets and this week we learn't about microscopes. We saw lots of stuff while looking into them like weird flowers, frog blood, a home flies leg (and-more-not-so-great-stuff-to-look-at) We had fun though which was good so yeah.

The care values/leadership qualities I showed were: Community (collaborating with stuff at science) Active Thinking (Questioning what some stuff was) Respect (Communicating) and Excellence (Being resilient).

Term 2 Novel Study

Term 2 Novel Study

This term I have been reading and studying the novel: Silverstream.

I found this novel great because it the kind of genre I enjoy reading and I like a lot of action and adventure in books!

During the novel I had to complete a thinking map which shows that I can classify how the author has shown the theme of the book.

National Standard this covers:

• Year 9/10 Standard

• I can locate, evaluate, analyse and summarise information and ideas within texts and across a range of texts.
• I have a large vocabulary that is connected to my own knowledge about the world and includes: - academic e.g observe vs watch - subject-specific (specific words about a subject (e.g feline) - technical terms (specialised vocabulary of a particular field.)

Overall I would give this novel a rating of 8/10 and I would / would not  recommend it to others to read because It has a good back story and it creates a whole new world that could exist inside your mind; and I have a good idea of what the author is trying to tell me through this book.

Drama Term 2, 2017

In ARTS this term we have been learning to:

Select and use techniques and relevant technologies to develop drama practice.

• During this unit of learning we:
• Described the characteristics of silent performances.
• Identified different techniques used in silent performances.
• Used these techniques in a variety of different practice situations.
• Worked in a small group to put together our own silent performance.

The most challenging part of this unit of learning was making the actual silent production because we decided to, instead of being filmed doing in live, we wanted to video it ourselves in our spare time.

The two things that I enjoyed the most were:

1. Making a movie with my friends.
2. Finding our all the different ways you can make a silent movie.

The story that my group told silently was Someone steals someone else's glasses (because they lost theirs) and then they try to get it back and lots of other people join in trying to get them back from the thief etc...

Overall I think my group worked really well because there were few mistakes made and we did everything in the time limit we had to create the silent production.

The National Standard that I have been aiming for during this unit of learning is:

• Year 9/10: I can read in different ways to find and/or understand information that that is not immediately easy to access or is not organised in familiar ways.

Each week we have read a short text about a current event/ topic. We then formed questions based on what we had read.  After this we researched the answers to our questions and finally we gave our opinions on what we had found out.
